Homeless Situation Bloomberg A New Prevention Program Essay

In the midst of the homeless situation Bloomberg introduced a new prevention program Homebase, who worked mostly in the preventive service. Homebase worked with landlords in the legal aspect to prevent families to enter the shelter. Also, Bloomberg presented two different programs to assist family to exit the shelter. First Housing Stability Plus and the Work Advantage. Both programs failed to assist enough families to transition into a permanent location. The programs was a double-edge sword. Families moved out, however in order to be eligible for the program families needed to eligible for Public Assistance in top of it, families could not go over the poverty line, because the families will stop to be eligible for the program. By the end of Bloomberg at least 10000 families were in shelter. Lastly, the tendency showed no signs of reversing in the last years of Bloomberg administration. (Asher, Colin 2011). On a different page, the Section 8 program brings federally funded rent vouchers for low-income families. The program consistent in provide relief to families that are able to proof that they can not afford a full rent. Eligible families will be responsible to pay 30 % of the full rent. Families or individuals eligible for the voucher are able to look for an apartment in any state of the United States. Are you one of those athletes who over the years have experienced several injuries, whether it was pre or post season and you feel that you know a lot in the field? Well, you should consider majoring in Kinesiology. Majoring in kinesiology provides you the opportunity to work in the field as Sports Medicine Trainer, Physical Therapist, exercise physiologist and so many other careers. Most athletes that major in this field typically go for careers in Athletic Training. In May 2013, the BLS reported that the average annual wage of an athletic trainer was $44,720† (Study.com, 2013). In today’s society Athletic Trainers work hard and are trained to prevent sport and daily life activities before it is too late. Job Overview The question that always come with the option of becoming an Athletic Trainer is ‘Do I have to do four years in school then another two to four years for training’? In order to become a certified athletic trainer, â€Å"you must have at minimum, a bachelor s degree through an accredited athletic training program or meet other requirements set by the Board of Certification (BOC)† (American Dental Education Association , 2012). â€Å"[Other requirements will consist of] CPR and first aid certification; an endorsed application by a NATA-certified trainer; and successful completion of the NBOC exam† (Jenkins, 2013). Getting a bachelor s degree in athletic training is the minimum needed to start your career. A few course one will have to complete throughout these four years will consist of Human Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, Sports Psychology and Nutrition. AS you grow up you are going to meet a variety of different people. Every person you meet are not going to have the same views on life as you are . 1 came to realize that when my close friend Bianca and I disagreed on the topic going to college. I was more focus on what school I wanted to attend. I decided to ask Bianca what college she wanted to go too. To my disbelief she said she wasn’t going to college. I was astonished because she was such a smart and bright student. College also is such a big thing in my family. After high school that’s where you were expected to go. I ask Bianca why she didn’t want to go to college she replied saying because nobody in her family has ever gone to college. Everyone in her family was expected to work and most of all her family couldn’t afford it. We continue talking more and more about college. I convinced her to go because its alot of programs out there to help her to go to college almost or even free. Education is so important. It would help her to get ere dream career of becoming a nurse. As she thought about it she said she was going to take everything we talked about into consideration. At first I was astonished by the fact one of my closet friends that I known since freshman year said she wasn’t attending college. Then I came to realize that everyone comes from different backgrounds and have different views on things. In the end I convinced Bianca to attend college and education is important.
